Who would be the media audience for your media product?

The audience for my music magazine will be of an age range of 16-24 for males and females either in full time or part time employment and education with a passion for some sort of musical interest. T

hey will have an interest which is linked to the music within my magazine and also they will have interest like attending festivals in the summer going to gigs and shopping and within my magazine there will be articles on summer festivals and clothes for the summer tour dates and all sorts for them. They spend their time going to college, working, hanging out with mates and going to gigs so RHM magazine will be perfect for an on the go teenager/adult. The audience consumes a lot of

music from the internet on websites such as YouTube etc.

When I was producing my preliminary product I didn’t feel confident when I was using programmes like Photoshop and Indesign but I am now confident when producing a piece of work on Indesign and when I am editing a photo on Photoshop

Question 3. What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

I believe time warner would be interested in distributing my product because they are a conglomerate and both horizontally and vertically integrated so therefore they wouldn’t want any competition for other magazines they own such as NME and look UK, so if Time warner were to distribute my magazine it would work in their favor because its a music magazine for all types of genres and wont be having to compete against the likes of NME but will help time warner compete against company’s like Bauer who own quite a few different types of magazines and this will bring Time Warner’s musical magazine reputation up because at this moment in time Time Warner only own one music magazine which is NME and even though this is distributed worldwide its only for an indie/punk rock audience so my magazine would work well because its strengths are NME’s weaknesses.

Also Time warner own an outstanding number of other company’s and the more worldwide magazines for a large target audience they have all of Time warner’s products can be sold and advertised through either my magazine or my magazine through the other products.

I chose to have the tittle as the bands name because it links to the tittle on the front cover and links with the article, also the colours used link with the front cover, contents page and the whole double page spread. I used the main background picture because is shows a variety of different band members, musical instruments and equipment. The reason i separated the tittle across the top is so it as a big stand out effect when you turn onto that page and i put two words on each side to balance out the effect of the tittle.

Front cover

This is my front cover, i have chosen to have a main picture as my background because it stands out and gives the whole magazine a good kick, the font i used for my masthead gives it a good colour difference to the main background colour. I chose the title "Are they the next big thing?" because it fits in with the article about them and it draws in the audience to reading my magazine and the colour i used for it links with the contents page and the colours and gradients used in that. The circle at the top of the page is good because it gives an extra insight to whats in my magazine and therefore giving readers extra reasons to buy it and i gave it red writing and black background so it stands out and people read it. For the two secondary images i've used i thought they should have a stroke around them to make them not part of the background image and i've used white coloured font so it matches the masthead.

This picture i am using for my front cover because its big and it has a good stand out main figure in the middle of the frame, also when its enlarged to fit the whole page it doesn't become fuzzy.  

For my double page spread i chose this photo because it was a good large picture which had a good long shot of three guitarists and it fit the double page when i made it larger.

The difference between this and the first attempt is that i have included a picture into the text and put text wrap in it so the text is around the picture.

Music magazine proposal

The music magazine is going to be aimed at an indie/punk rock music fanatics from aged 16-25, it will have new upcoming artists, whats good at the moment and what used to be the big thing in older generations. It will also include posters of big bands, bands with new albums coming out and of rock chicks like Hayley Williams from Paramore and solo artist Avril laviegne. 

My idea for the Mast Head is to be short and sweet but bold and to be filled with colours that catch attention quickly, the name for my magazine is RHM this stands for Rew Hawkins Music it's short and catches attention quickly and gets them to wonder what it stands for. The font i use will be plain and simple so there's no emphasis taken away from the music and the main themes of the magazine and front cover. There will be a tagline each week which will change and it will be from a quote from an interview from inside the magazine off that issue.

There will be a publish every fortnight it wont be at a high price, the images on the front will be different each issue and depending on whats in the issue, also the Mast Head will always stay the same except for special editions, there will be around 20-23 pages and will be A4 and the colours will mostly stay the same being yellow and black/brown to keep an identity to the magazines name.
